2. Some general points about socialising on Hey-AI 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
1. To date, there are over 1900 people of a very diverse background from all over the world signed up as our members and use our website for many different purposes. Some join our website to know more about other languages and cultures, some want to meet people from another corner of the world or for some, Hey-AI is a good place to relax and chat a bit while having a break from work or studies.

2. Hey-AI members are no different from people you meet in real world. Everyone who agrees to adhere to our rules and guidelines are eligible to join Hey-AI. That means while the majority of our members are genuine, nice and kind-hearted people, there are also people who are exactly the opposite or even worse.

3. You are advised to exercise same kind of caution when meeting people here, as when meeting people elsewhere, especially given the ease of people pretending to be someone who they are really not on the internet. Specifically, if you decide to meet people from here the first time, the same as you meet other strangers, it is definitely advisible to meet at a public place, e.g. cafe. Other common precautions are also applicable.

4. A person in the real world can be very different from the one you know from online interactions for many reasons. Online messages do not necessarily reflect the person himself/herself, but the impression he/she wants to give you about himself/herself, which can be intentional or unintentional. To truly know and trust a person requires a lot of time and thoughts, definitely more than just a few meetings/dates. There are stories about people meeting up and dating with several people met on the internet at the same time and this reflects the complexity of our real world.

5. In short, if you decide to meet up (and/or to be become 'more than friends' ) with people on the internet, take your time, think carefully, exercise common cautions and when in doubt, talk to people whom you can trust before proceeding further.
