What's this karma thing?

There's a +/- karma thing now next to each user. How's the plus aspect any substantially different from a thank you - and how's the minus aspect any substantially different from a block/ignore?

The karma thing is similar to the "thank you" system but it limits abuse by allowing only one modification (+ or -) per 6 hours (it was 6 hrs when I tested it this morning). The added minus function also gives a voice to those who disagree with certain posts (e.g. overpraising/pandering/circlejerking or thank-you whoring posts).

I think the karma thing may be implemented to replace the "thank you" system in the future.

We'll have to see how this new function works out. It looks good so far, in theory.

Ignore it, there's always someone who don't agree your opinion or just plain jealous.

haha this function is pretty funny. It's like cyberbullying to the next level. ZeroPH has -2 karma, hmmm lets give him another.

I don't like it tbh. It's an "opportunity" to dislike someone in plain view, except it's anonymous.

I think it's a nice idea.. It gives users the chance to + the members whose posts they enjoy reading in general while thanking a post might just be a one-time agreement with someone..

It's SO gonna be abused though.. :/

How come I don't have any indication of karma, but it just says 0. Perhaps it's because I have already reached nirvana?

It is a nice idea. Unfortunately it will most likely be abused. I've seen some people who has -4 already and I don't see anything wrong with their posts. This will turn out to be more of a: I-like-you and I-don't-like-you-button.

So is karma indication strictly for that one post or is it an indication for one's own karma overall in this site?
