Sydney Meetups 2014

There are a few AMWF specific meetups that are being organised by me.

The second and bigger art exhibition has moved back a week to Fri 7 Feb, same time & place. Moved due to lack of interest and because it's right on CNY (thus possibly involving clashes with family commitments for people).

We have a combined meetup this Saturday - including the Sydney AMWF meetup group and females from other groups. It is storytelling at Central Park Shopping Complex, this Saturday 3pm. For more details click in; feel free to come along and bring your friends!

Wed 14 May 6.30pm at the Art Gallery of NSW Sydney sees the first of the Biennale Arts Festival Celebrity Talks. Reflections on the artworks and broader themes in the art festival by some of Australia’s leading voices in the arts, sciences and politics. After the 30min odd talk we'll grab dinner around there and possibly listen to some live music.

Saturday 14 June, 7pm @ the Graphics Arts Club Mascot sees an optional dinner then the Australian Karaoke Championships heats in the eastern suburbs. It's easy to get there by car and a 7-8 min walk from Mascot Station.

This is a combined meetup but the nature of the event (watch open mic) is conducive to having AMWF/AMXF people attending. Currently of the 7 who have RSVP'd, the other 6 are female!!!

1st anniversary celebrations for the Sydney AMWF/AMXF meetup group - Dinner @ Stack's Darling Harbour and Cool Yule

To celebrate our 1st anniversary (exclusive to this group unless few people attend) we're doing a cool dinner and Cool Yule Festival - and maybe some drinks/dancing too depending on what the participants think! This will be on Friday June 27, 7.30pm onwards to allow a maximum number of people to come into the city after work/study.

1. 7.30pm - have an upclass meal at Stacks Taverna. This is owned by the Nick's Seafood Bar & Grill chain but is not ridiculously expensive. We will meet inside for dinner - there's $25 2 course meals (including entree or dessert) + drink; $15-$20 pizzas; $10-$15 smaller sized bites and a great dinner menu www.stacksbar.com.au/ . 2. After dinner around 8.30pm to 10pm - walk out and experience the awesome sights of Cool Yule with no added cost to Meetup organisers! This year, the festival will offer its most exciting line-up yet; an array of gourmet culinary delights, dazzling action on the ice, live entertainment and authentic Après Skate bar experiences to warm your soul www.darlingharbour.c.../cool-yule.aspx

There will be a huge variety of exciting free activities spread throughout the Tumbalong Park area, leaving no surface untouched. This includes a snow forest, Thredbo Resort ski slopes on an 80ft inflatable slide (I think the slide is only open during the day though), and even an iceberg! Then there is the possibility of snacks as well as drinks at the pop-up bar - I've checked the prices are reasonable for this part of town. There's even an ice rink for $30pp/45 min or $25pp for the couples rate (though I don't recommend this one for value as the people who go on just stand and hardly do any skating)!

3. If people wanna kick on, would suggest some drinks and dancing at The Watershed or Shelbourne Hotel, or something like that. For this please bring proper shoes to ensure entry.

Got another AMWF/AMXF event coming up. The Greek Cafe Festival at Hurstville Museum & Gallery this Sunday 21st September 2pm on. Free art, probably free canapes/drinks and boundless opportunities for the singles out there to meet some great European women, and there's plenty of free parking nearby.
