The Amazing Spider-Man

Was not as good as I had expected/hoped. Andrew Garfield looks like a pretty good teenage Peter Parker but Tobey Maguire was a far better actor. But Emma Stone is an upgrade in the female lead. I hated Kirsten Dunst. What did you think of the movie?

How else can you explain your obsession with Koreans? Beneath all that hatred, you've clearly got some major cognitive dissonance at work.

So I saw it on Monday and I still don't really know how I felt about the movie.

I don't know if my hopes were too high but something about the film just didn't seem right. I was entertained for the most part. I think Garfield did a decent enough job. He had the sarcasm that Maguire's Spidey lacked. I thought his frame and built was perfect. I thought the fight scenes and effects were much better than the original. But the plot itself, I thought was a bit too ambitious. There was a point where I said to myself, "Jesus, this movie is long". Unfortunately, Jesus wasn't listening and it kept going. I want to like it. I really do. But I didn't feel the same emotional attachment to Martin Sheen's Uncle Ben as I did the other. And I don't think Spidey even caught the robber unlike in the comic/first movie. Basically, I think I was just disappointed with the effort. And I know a lot of people were saying that it was too soon for a reboot, which I thought was crap, but after seeing it, I think they might be right.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. But I would go watch it in 3D. I thought the effects were great to watch it in 3D.
