When do you conform? was created by TeddyJerr
We all like to "be ourselves" and carve a niche in this world, but when is it a good idea to conform? That's the question I asked in this video.

Let me know what you think!

for me it's not that there aren't times i would like to conform, but for some reason i'm unable to. everything i really feel and how i enjoy looking seems to make me stand out. i never had a time socializing in my development where i depended on group approval so i guess i'm missing that need. it would be cool to have more friends but i'm not going to pretend to be someone else to fit in. and i know from experience that i can't fit into a standard workplace. maybe if it was the right niche of group work environment but i could feel my soul slowly draining when i worked human resources. i think i've learned i just enjoy being solitary most of the time. i don't even care about socializing online but i just have a slight internet addiction to feed which brings me to this forum (aside from that i'm here as it being a dating site).

When the law or social ethics demand it. Sort of have to conform somewhat for a successful career and life free of incarceration.

Interesting! Being solitary can be good to recharge if you're an introvert. Have you ever taken a myers-briggs personality assessment? It could help you find out more about yourself and what type of job and types of people you could get along with best. I'm an INFP.

That's true. Gotta at least obey laws and not completely insult people of authority. Those two are examples of conformity that we all do.

Yeah on the Myer-Briggs Personality Test I am on the extreme bottom left hand quadrant - akin to a politician or property developer. I'm as nonconformist as can be haha ,

Im not sure how much stock I put into it but yeah I've talked with others a bit here before on Mb personality type. I've taken it a few times over the years and im about 50/50 on i/e and p/j, just consistently NF. People tell me im antisocial and that I prefer other animals for company over humans, and I guess I agree. I just had to come to terms with that I dont feel like being around people a lot of the time - except good looking single men: I feed off their energy. And I appreciate the attention they give me so ill play a little more flirtatious. That's about as social as I get. Otherwise cute animals or bust.

It's important to have a personality that entirely represents you, or, you wouldn't exactly have your own self-identity. Yet so many people confuse themselves over the fact of what being yourself really consists of.

First things first; you can still be your own person without crossing the boundaries of over-confidence. It gets a little annoying after a while when you constantly hear people getting up in your face and telling you, "Oh, so you don't like me? Well, I'm just being myself. So get used to it".

Uh, hello? There's such thing as respect. Why people choose not to use it I can't comprehend- but it sure gives the impression of someone with a pretty bad sense of self-worth.

But, after all, you can surely be yourself without going out of context. Freedom also has its limits, my friends. Just take it with generosity. :side:
