Winter in Your Heart

It's almost Ramadan here in Abu Dhabi. And I know many of you are looking forward to the end of term and the start of summer. But I'm not one of those people.

I love autumn. And I love winter. Maybe it's my age, maybe it's living in a hot country. Even as a kid in Canada, I loved the turn of seasons heralding the cooler weather. I love the cold and the way the light lingers instead of dropping dead out of the sky. I love waiting for your date in the evening chill, knowing that you'll guide her inside to a warmer place. I love the shiver of excitement and the ritual warming of hands. Women walking about in furs and scarves and knee high boots--like luxurious gifts, all exquisitely wrapped.

People in perpetually sunny places are fake. They tell themselves how wonderful their lives are because tomorrow is another sunny day. They walk slowly and smile when they don't mean it.

I want a woman with winter in her heart. Unmoved by breezy flattery or brief gusts of emotion. Primordial passion. Glacial reserves of affection, waiting for the floodgates to be loosed. Dark haired, dark eyed. With longing and intensity in her gaze.



This is how I feel inside right now.

I love Winter because of the white snow falling on the ground, homes, buildings, and plants. I was born in Winter.
Winter is icy cold weather but eating warm foods and staying indoors to keep warm. I am a Winter baby myself, I got used to the ice, and blizzards.
