I have a polish neighbor who's trying to learn Norwegian. in the 6 months she's been here, she's doing pretty DAMN well.
She reads alot, but the best place to start is probably with kindergarden stuff. Like babybooks and toddler tv stuff, listening to french speaking people etc etc.

Of course native English speakers are able learn French, or any other language. It's just that they don't need to learn foreign languages because everywhere they travel, they will find people who can speak at least a few words of English...

Bien sûr que les anglophones sont capables d'apprendre le français ou n'importe quelle langue. C'est juste qu'il n'ont pas besoin d'apprendre une langue étrangère, car partout où ils voyagent, ils trouveront quelqu'un qui sait dire au moins quelques mots en anglais...

see if you can get one your workmates to give you lessons. i started from the alphabet and progressed from there. funny thing is, learning french improved my english as well. and i thought i was already a full fledged english speaker.

maybe its just me, but its very hard to learn from books, texts, online etc. they are only helpful when you need to find grammar applications, conjugations and all the technical stuff.
