The server went down so deep that even we couldn't reach it, so we had to ask our provider to restart the server. However, their understanding of 24/7 support is that you do not get support until Monday if your server has a problem on Friday...

Anyhow, the server is back up and running, but we have no clue what happend as our provider did not share any information upon the nature of why the server was unreachable.

edit/
I just checked the server's log files, and what a surprise it was to find out that the server only had a short hickup on friday (11 hours down), but afterwards it was disconnected from the Internet. so I guess they moved the server somewhere else (physically) and forgot to plug in the network cable...
