As many of you have notices, Hey-AI! suffered multiple downtimes in the first weeks of November 2017. There was an issue with our server’s hardware which the technical support team was obviously unable to fix. Both harddrives were exchanged (no user data was lost), but the system continues to crash randomly, forcing a RAID-rebuild each time.

Therefore, we moved ahead our schedule. We have been setting up a new server, but in light of the problems with the old server we did switch servers on 17 November. We are now running on the latest versions of Debian, httpd, nginx, MariaDB, Joomla, Kunena, and CommunityBuilder. The server load is below 0.5 for the moment (compared to an average 2.5 on the old server), so that is good news.

Nevertheless, as we rushed the move to the new server, many things are not working as they should.
  • We need to update the stylesheets and scripts to run with the new versions of Joomla, Kunena, and CommunityBuilding.
  • We need to check an issue with our DNS name resolver. Somehow the old nameservers instead of the new ones are addressed somtimes.
  • E-Mails are currently handled by the old server. We need to check the connection between the two servers as some e-mails seem to get lost. → We will move our MX to a Linode soon.

Please support us by pointing out bugs here . We are unable to check everything, so we do need your help in quickly finding issues.
