Just some thoughts:

Asia Society sometimes has a happy hour which also offers free tours of the museum space. Over 18's totally fine.

So is their Asian-American Int'l Film Fest. It's not free, but sometimes you can catch a good showing. Jet Li showed up years back to showcase Black Mask. Ang Lee has appeared, too, at the reception.

Rubin Museum's also along the same lines, except they focus more on Tibetan art (at least to me it does).

I'll keep my eyes and ears open. That Asian Film Fest from the 15th to the 24th all over Chelsea and Chinatown. Quite the radical departure from Asia Society and The French Institute. I'm sure other things will be happening, too.
