Anime

I have been looking for a good anime movie for some time now. Not series, just a movie.

The type of movie I've been looking for, is the ones that are either a bit sad or just realistic. I am thinking about movies such as

*Spirited away
*5 cm per second (really good anime for you people that like anime and think about long distance relationship)
*Girl that leapt through time
*Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below

Try watching "Kakurenbo" It's a short 30 minute anime movie about children playing a game of hide and seek in an abandoned city. Then they are hiding from demons, the child who is the last one to be caught becomes the winner of the game. :3

I dunno if you would like this movie, but try watching "Redline" Its not really realistic, more futuristic inter-galactic racing. However, It does have a nice story and a sweet ending. The main character is soooo awesome too :3 Sweet JP.

Perfect Blue is one twisted movie. Loved it.

Jin-Roh -> Sad.
Grave of the Fireflies -> I haven't watched it myself yet, but friend told me that it's very sad.
The Sky Crawlers -> Sad, thought sometimes very boring.

I dunno what else to recommend in those criterias.

The Little Mermaid (Japanese anime version)

This is nothing like the American version, completely different, it's depressing as hell, none of the lovey-dovey stuff, it's actually a realistic take on things. It's brilliant actually.

Anything Studio Ghibli - always good animes!

If you like stuff like that I suggest:

"Voices of a Distant star" its very sad

Eden of the East is good and cute. It is a series but it's short---and it has 2 movies that conclude the story.

Ghost in the Shell 1 & 2

Vexille (this one impressed me--I didn't know what to expect, but it was amazing)

Origin: Spirits of the Past

Evangelion 1.0 and 2.2 (third one isn't out in Japan til next year T_T)

Sword of the Stranger (you have to see it!)


okay... I didn't read your entire original post, but most of these are sci-fi with humanity so there is levels of reality in most of them.
Sword of the Stranger is a heart-felt type
