What is it about metal, rock and roll or punk or alternative that makes one feel alive?

I will be honest, I was listening to some pop as I listen to all types of music but today I didn't feel like dancing, I had all this energy pent up in me and so I put on some Metallica (old school) and I started to feel my head clear, then I put on Slayer and next thing you know, it is like the music is pumping through my body, as the blood giving me life.

Ok I might just be having a metal high lol but there is something about it I just love but why is it, I ask the metal fans, when I listen to this type of music unlike any other, I feel myself coming alive? Does that make sense? lol Probably not.

Well as I am going through my metal collection, it would be heresy not to listen to the Gods of Metal, Black Sabbath! Who I never thought would come back together in my life time and as God is my witness, those ticket off ques are not going to lick me, I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll finally get to see Black Sabbath play live in my lifetime! No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never witness such a event again and I will see them live!

:P

I felt like being silly. I feel like being silly today, life does not have enough of it! :P

Hmm after Black Sabbath with Metallica, I went onto Jimi Hendrix, that sound is so sexy and both him and Joan Jett made me pick up a guitar and start learning, not that I'll be as good!

Now as for punk? Should I go classic and listen to Ramones, The Clash or something else? Haven't listened to Ian Dury for a while.

Then I will check out the Cult, for a bit of alternative, think I'll start with Revolution!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Hey that's really cool of you to say that! :cheer: I've always loved rock, metal, punk, and the like. Black Sabbath are really awesome live, I saw them play (the original lineup with Ozzy) at a concert in Munich, Germany in 2007. Blew my mind. They sound so much heavier live these days, what with all the new technology and gear.

That's great you're picking up a guitar, too! I love to play guitar, I'm not in a band but I'd like to get something going... a metal outfit maybe... Guitar is great if you'd like to vent some expression, it makes you feel good. B)

I do not like the oldschool metal, rock, whatever.. This is not so excitung for me.. D:

When I was young I listened to really (!) political punk music (Why, mom, why you let me listen to that?).. After that I started with japanese Rockmusic, even visual kei.
I still like Mucc, Girugamesh and of course, the holy X Japan (they can make me really emotional..haha!)..
Nowadays I like Nu Metal like Maximum the hormone (best, best, best..Even the best concert I went to) and Skindred.

Sometimes and the most time of my youth I like ASP, Schandmaul, Subway to Sally and Rammstein. :)

But I'm happy that I don't burn down churches and that I like many different kind of music. ;)

I don't know about guys here, but I've met some girls who like metal, rock, punk, alternative, etc. It amazed me because it's rare for girls to like those kinda musics.

Seriously? Here in Germany a lot of young people listen to that music. And of these people in my opinion is like 50% / 50%.. Maybe that there are more male metalheads, but.. Na.. there are a lot of females

Usually girls like slow musics, pop or anything similar.
