Not a bad film, not my favourite though.
I found the subtle incest in the film rather intriguing.

Scarface is awesome. One of the best movies of the genre. Goodfellas is good too.

Wow, I haven't seen that movie in forever.
It's hard to imagine it was a considered a flop at the box office.
It's pretty good, but nowhere near as good as Homeward Bound.

Weird, I was just watching this not too long ago. Saw it on TV randomly, flipping through the channels. I think it was on FX or something.

I think it's a brilliant movie that doesn't follow any convention at all, storytelling or otherwise. It's violent, unsettling, gritty, and almost dream-like. But isn't that what Tony was shooting for? Literally, lol? He was shooting for the coveted "American Dream". I think the flick is great, a classic. A bit campy, I know. A cult classic, if you will. They're all like that. Other than the obsession with his sister, I liked the picture. Tony exemplified the hard-knock attitude combined with some sort of sense of honor that I think many gangsters try and emulate. "Honor among thieves". He is the quintessential gangster. Death before dishonor mentality. The metaphor here is that, I guess his sister was his "innocence he was struggling to protect", but he was all too controlling of her. As soon as she went, he went completely insane. His sister symbolized his childhood days, before the real world corrupted him morally - scars of his past. Tony was a man damaged by the wickedness of the world around him - a true "refugee" desperately attempting to hold on to some sort of innocence while escaping persecution. It ended in tragedy, but one who "lives by the sword dies by the sword". I believe Tony had a good heart, but the wickedness of the world got the best of him. He ultimately decided to fight fire with fire and boy did he get burned. He went out with guns blazing, the only way to go.
