I actually agree with Rudi on something...

As someone who is trying to raise an independent, confident, assertive, and outspoken daughter.....I cant express enough how much I dislike the "princess" culture.

Thing I feel like I'm always saying...

"You don't need a man (or boy) to save you"

"Go play in the dirt" (seriously)

"It's just rain, you won't melt....."

"Forget what (insert princess name) would do......do your own thing"

"Screw the glass slipper....put on your boots!"

I feel like I'm in a daily battle with the media/Disney and her peers on what it means to be a girl.....all I can do is set an example and hope something sticks, because nature gave me a pink loving tomboy...equally comfortable wearing a dress while kicking her brother's a$$....(*)

Lately I've noticed her trying to mask her traditionally "boyish" tendencies...pretending NOT to like math or legos or sports, and it makes me soooo MAD.

*martial arts practice, I don't actually condone physical violence
