Non-Asian women: K-pop (What, Why) was created by risenfromthedead
I have a question regarding K-pop fans out there,
especially for Non-Asian, esp women who love it.
I just wonder Why you love it?
What is so special or different or the things that attract you?
Who are the artist you listen to and why?
The content, theme of the song, or movie, or MV?

I maybe bias toward K-pop because i am Not a fan.
Is it just Korean language but the same music?

Sincerely

Face it, some of them are better looking than your typical short, unattractive, maybe even slightly overweight asian guys who reside in Western Countries.

Rarely do I see a tall in shape asian guy who hits the gym and all that

Looks are the first thing a person notices, therefore it is very important.

Well, personally I'm not a huge kpop fan because I usually like to understand the lyrics of what I'm listening to, I just like a few songs occasionally. But what I most enjoy are the music videos, they are very different from the sort of thing we have in the US. There's a whole lot of female-oriented ones where in the US all you really have is Justin Bieber and One Direction... stuff like that, more for teens than women. A huge amount of mv's here are aimed towards men so it is not really enjoyable for a straight woman to watch some girl twerking or bouncing her boobs around. Whereas with the kpop groups they often look really stylish and unique and seem to be very talented dancers, as well as the videos are usually way more creative and sometimes strange, so I find it fascinating to watch. It just seems more mature than the kind of 'boy bands' we have over here.

Oh yeah, also, kpop songs aren't predominately about sex and getting plastered. The same definitely cant be said for our mainstream pop/rap music over here...

Honestly, the only reason I even know what it is, is because of my friends who are obsessed with it (and dramas). And the reason I like it is because it's a nice change from the American pop music where they're so keen on being different that they actually become the same. And there's also barely any groups.

In my opinion I find it more fun and entertaining. The colors. The dancing. The rapping. The singing. It's just more fun.

I listen to Miss A, BTS, SISTAR, Teen Top, and plenty of other groups.

Ah well this may not count seeing as though I am part Asian. But the videos for K-Pop are pretty cool to watch, the choreography and how the groups are styled. I like the music because some of the voices are just great.

My favorite is Rain.
I love 2PM and 2NE1 as well.

Really? Because everyone I've talked to about it is at least a year older than me.

I still maintain that G-Dragon is the name of a dildo and not a person.

From my observation, non-asian women tend to like K-pop because of the choreography, the catchy beat and out of left field music videos lol. Also a lot of the K-pop boybands tend to look similar to anime characters so I guess that helps a bit. When I still lived in Japan a lot of girls liked K-pop because Korean guys were seen as exotic and the style of choreography was different from Japanese choreography.
