Retro Korean Music - Drama O.S.Ts (Soundtracks)

Hello members.
Hello guys it's Conan, and I'm back with more selection of some memorable Korean music!
This time the post is dedicated to soundtracks of some of the famous Korean dramas that you may or may not know.
So, shall we begin?

1. 겨울연가(Winter Sonata) [2002]

A drama series of two destined lovers over the beautiful winter scenery of Korea. This drama has also become really sensational outside of Korea, especially in Japan. This drama skyrocketed fames of the main actor and actress, Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji Woo across Asia.

2. 발리에서 생긴 일(What Happened in Bali) [2004]

A sad twist of love triangle between two guys and a girl, the story unfolds from their first encounter at Bali, Indonesia, which carries over to Korea. I remember watching this drama as my parents used to set on a sofa every weekends when this was aired. There are a few songs that themed this drama that I still carry with my mp3 player, here are the links.

3. 풀 하우스(Full House) [2004]

The drama based on a popular contemporary web-cartoon, tells a Cinderella story of an unknown fiction writer with a famous movie star. This drama caused the rising popularity of the main actor, 비(Rain), across Asia. Here is the theme song from the drama that I still listen to.

4. 미안하다 사랑한다(I'm Sorry, But I Love You) [2004]

2004 was indeed a year for dramas in Korea. This is another drama from 소지섭(So Ji Sub), who also took a leading male role at "What Happened in Bali", which was previously introduced. The theme song "눈의 꽃(Snowflowe)r" is covered by 박효신 (Park Hyo-Shin), who is a popular R&B/Ballads singer in Korea, but the original song is created by Mika Nakashima from Japan.

5. 내 이름은 김삼순(My Name is Kim Sam Soon) [2005]

The drama tells a funny love story of a once-obese-and-insecure woman and a man who is a successful restaurant owner. Although I have not actually watched the drama, it was one of the most popular ones in the year. The theme song by Clazziquai is still worthy to listen

Hello it's me again, I'm back with more selection of Korean drama O.S.Ts.
Those of you that haven't checked out my first posting of this drama O.S.T reviews, please take a look at my topic under the forum called "Retro Korean Music - Drama O.S.Ts (Soundtracks) - part 1".
Let's begin the second part of our journey!

1. 천국의 계단 (Stairway to Heaven) [2003]

In my opinion, the drama was the typical display of the rules that exist among Korean dramas such as losing a part of memory, having an abusive stepmother, and all the odds are stacked against the two main lovers. The theme song of this drama, however, surprisingly has ranked #51 spot on US Billboard HOT 100 in 2001. The song was popular before being used as the theme of this drama, but the popularity of this drama made the song one of the most sang piece of music in Korean Karaokes, as many people fell in love with the song. Here is the link to one of the most beloved Korean songs of all time.

2. 시크릿 가든(Secret Garden) [2010]

The touching love story between a stuntwoman and an heir of a huge department store chain, had consistently been a subject of numerous parodies by comedians. Here are some of the beautiful songs that themed this drama.

- 백지영(Baek Ji Young): 그 여자(That Woman)



- 성시경(Sung Si Kyung): 너는 나의 봄이다(You're My Spring)



3. 드림하이(Dream High) [2011]

The drama unfolds the story of a group of students at an Arts academy who are dreaming to become famous performers in the future. The drama, from the pre-production days, has hyped up the country by announcing main actors to be famous teen idols who were already popular in Korea. Here is the song by 아이유(IU), who is a known Korean female artist, that I still have on my music player.

4. 신사의 품격(A Gentleman's Dignity) [2012]

One of the few dramas that I really enjoyed watching in my life. The drama is a lot different than other ones in a way that it tells stories about those who are in the age of 40s. This drama also gave a birth to a few memorable soundtracks, here are the links below.

- 이현(Lee Hyun, from 8Eight): 가슴이 시린게(My Heartache)



- 이종현 (Lee Jong Hyun, from CNBLUE): 내 사랑아(My Love)



5. 상속자들(The Heirs) [2013]

The drama is a story of rebellious teenagers who are heirs of successful millionaires. I feel that this is one of the few dramas that soundtracks did a great job of really matching the atmosphere of the scenes in the drama(not that other dramas didn't). Here are some of the great songs from this series.

- 차가운 체리(Cold Cherry): 성장통 2 (Growing Pain 2)



- 창민(Changmin from 2AM): Love is the Moment



- 박장현 (Park Jang Hyeon) & 박현규 (Park Hyeon Gyu): Love is



6. 별에서 온 그대(My Love from the Star) [2014]

One of the few recent Korean dramas that have good combination of science fiction and love story. The drama has skyrocketed the fame for the main actor, 김수현(Kim Soo Hyun), overseas. He also acted as a main male lead in 드림 하이(Dream High). Here is the link to this beautiful song from the drama. This is the lady that also sang the theme song for "풀 하우스(Full House)", which I introduced in the first series of my drama music reviews.
