Hey people. Which Linux operating system requires the least system requirements? Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Debian, OS Elementary ... etc. ???

First, Debian is out of this picture. Debian is a full featured distro, and can customize to different usages.

Both Xubuntu and Kubuntu can be very light. Unless your system resource is extremely limited, it would not be necessary to compare in depth. Instead, you should notice their different window managers. Xubuntu is Gnome style and Kubuntu is KDE. That makes quite some differences according to different user conventions.

Never used Elementary OS, but their ad seems like a cheap OS X knock off...

By the way, I forgot to post my old Netbook Specs, sorry.

It's an Asus 1101ha:

CPU Intel Atom Z520 / 1.33 GHz
RAM 1 GB
Graphics Processor Intel GMA 500

XUbuntu looks interesting. Thank you for answering I will test it.

I installed Linux Mint 16 (Mate) on several old celeron (pentium4 era) with only 512 MB RAM & 40 GB HDD. Works smooth.

Wow, that indeed needs some serious lightweight OS. If Xubuntu doesn't run smoothy, you may even try Lubuntu. There are other ugly lightweighted distros, damn-small-linux etc. but the graphical desktops can also be ugly...

Yeah, I think Xubuntu is a bit heavy for the Asus 1101ha ^^.

I think I'm gonna try Arch, Mint and Lubuntu.

Thanks everyone!
