Difference is, Asian racism on TV is often overlooked and not given a second thought, whereas if one wrong thing is said about... say... black people, there would be an outrage.

Of course TV is racist against asians. One of the more popular asian starred prime times shows is called: Fresh Off the Boat. There isn't another show out there that blatantly uses a derogatory phrase as a title. There isn't a show called, I Did Nazi that Coming, Syrian Refugees: Eww; however a show called Dexter did have a serial killer stereotype, but even that is romanticized.
Hollywood/TV is afraid of the dominant asian sex symbol such as Sessue Hayakawa or Bruce Lee. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sessue_Hayakawa Non asian men don't want to hear, "omg, can you please be more like an Asian sex symbol/Bruce Lee/Khan?" -their minds would explode at this unfathomable goal. People may say that it isn't relevant, but the 100,000 year recorded history of humans isn't even a blink of an eye compared to the age of the Earth. So I consider any point of recorded humanity relevant. Also, homie Sessue died in 1973.
Hollywood white washes movies with obvious asian leads like dragon ball and avatar. The Mandarin is one of the greatest villains in Marvel history, they put Ben Kingsley in it, and emasculated the character by taking all of Mandarin's powers away. I cringe at the sound of Akira being made into a live action film, the Rock will probably be Tetsuo and Kaneda will probably be Jake Gyllenhall. ugh.

In addition to what is told inside the news, it is very obvious from the picture that the ratio between East Asian actors and actresses is like 1:3, clearly indicating the lack of AM figures in the TV and movie media.
