Actually the novel is more refine, which written by Liu CiXin who is famous by his long article sci-fi novel “the threebody problem”.
The movie was around 145min to155min from the director cut edition，but cut to 125min for theater version，deleted some keyfeature plot and some darkness plot because it's chinese new year when the movie is debut.
The director said it will be a full length director cut edition coming with bluray, that will be a better movie.
