Read the books.Read the books.Read the books.Read the books.Read the books.

Seriously now, you're missing out on something SO much better than the series. While I admit that HBO generally makes good series and movies and that this show is awesome in its own right (considering budgets and actors and locations), it still doesn't hold a candle to the books.

Read the books.

yes you are doing yourself a disservice if you like the show and don't read the books.

i think people don't read enough these days anyways, and any reading people do is purely utilitarian

If the show made them grab the books and start reading, I'm happy. Perhaps they'll develop an appetite for reading. One can only hope, right?

I read about a book per week (depending on length and how much free time I have, in-between all these classes) and I miss talking to people about books and literature in general.

And to be more on topic: try the Tales of Dunk and Egg series too, the action set in the world of his Song of Ice and Fire cycle.

Three novellas have appeared so far: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight. The stories relate the adventures of Dunk (eponymously called Ser Duncan the Tall, a legendary member of the Kingsguard before the time of A Song of Ice and Fire) and Egg, beginning with their meeting eighty-nine years before the events of the main cycle and intended to cover a long period.

Martin has indicated there will be several more stories, as many as nine, covering much of the life stories of the two protagonists.

I haven't read the books but have seen the series. And I think you've made a terrible assumptions, Just because I haven't read the Game of Thrones simply doesn't mean I don't read. Because I do in fact read.

Or I might be wrong, And you aren't assuming all people who watch the series and don't read the book don't read at all.

But then that would of been random of you to say people don't read enough these days.

And I don't read books like Game of Thrones but usually books on history, religion or politics. (Boring I know, But to me it ain't.)

I think that's why I said in my post it was a bit random for him to bring it up. Since this topic is about Game of Thrones and a few people criticized others for not reading the books.
