Outside of Anime, I am a lifelong loyalist to Dreamworks Animation studios.
I liked some of the old disney films like Lion King and Bambi, however I grew out of Disney during childhood besides those few titles.
Dreamworks however felt more real to me......they always just had something deeper in them, and they don't have cheesy pink princesses that take over the world with their material products.
How to Train Your Dragon is their best 3D work, (I also loved Puss in Boots)however I loved their 2D animation the best! I miss them so much
they should try to break out of the stressful 3D fad and make some 2D films---I understand they need to fight alongside trends and other big names, but they aren't giving themselves a fair chance.....we still love 2D---even more now that 3D is over-done.
Road to El Dorado as was already posted was a fun animation.
Prince of Egypt was great(as an animation--don't judge it for being religious!), and Kung Fu Panda brings their 2D work back periodically for some artistic effects.
I also loved Spirit. Perhaps it takes a love for animals, but that really made the film worth it for me. I mean......they made a film without animal dialogue and tried to use natural body language--and still keep the general audience interested--that is a challenge! I admire them for that.
I took an animation program, and I was sad to see how pro-Disney this school was...it was almost sickening. I felt like I was being conditioned to obey one label as my inspiration.
Aside that.......
Cybersix was great----also Invader Zim invaded my interests.....I enjoy that show. Jackie Chan Adentures was fun, and also Godzilla the animation (american).
Balto is also a great animation not done by either large studio----
You have to give anime credit however, even if you dont care about, for keeping traditional animation alive. Even if they revert to digital, they are still doing well with the 2D style. America is another story............there is less story and feelings, and more empty animation, in my opinion.

Being a kid during the early 90s one got to enjoy a variety of toons. Even to this day I still watch toons as I can catch them.
Back then (and I still do enjoy) are shows like Darkwing Duck, Duck Tales, Gargoyles, Thundercats, Transformers, Batman the Animated Series, Tiny Toons, Looney Tunes, Woody Woodpecker etc.
Then you move a little forward in time and there were more shows that appear. I kind of loose track of what I watched but that might be due to the fact that none of those shows were memorable. As of late I've caught stuff on the Hub and am enjoying Young Justice immensely especially since season 2 just started.
Call me a child at heart. At least if I ever have kids, I'll be the type of dad that can sit and watch with them.
