One of the songs that it introduced me to Korean culture is Winter Sonata ost (cheo-eum-bu-teo ji-geum kkaji). I cried and had shivers just listening to the music.

This song literally made me break down, and that had never, ever happened to me before. I was a huge fan of the singer, Daisuke's band, Kagerou when they were together. I'd kind of liked his previous band where he was the drummer, Fatima, but not as much as Kagerou. When he moved onto a band called The Studs I was disappointed but dropped everything when they'd announced that they'd do a show in NYC, which got cancelled. D: Anyway, when he started to do his solo work, I was very pleased. I didn't get to go to any of his lives... then he passed away. I was heartbroken, because I'd followed his career, wanted to get a chance to see him, and never got to.

Another interesting thing about Daisuke is that he never liked to do very happy songs, and most of his songs were rather gloomy. In an interview, someone had asked about him ever doing a happy song, which he kind of laughed and said something like "I'm better at singing more gloomy songs because that's what I feel the strongest." Anyway, this song is very happy, and loving. So, it was almost like an underlying, "Goodbye, I love you very much." to me. I don't know if he knew he was going to pass, but he had had heart problems during his early life... so I can't say he wouldn't have known. Anyhow, even now, I still will get emotional listening to this song.
