I dont know how it is in Japan, but in Korea the US soldiers basicly has a free passage if they commit a crime. In 2004(?) when some soldiers drunk-drived they killed two school girls which initiated a riot where a angry mob tried to storm the military base.

its sad but there is truth to it... most do get away with it - or just a slap on the wrists

re-locating the base to another part of Japan isn't really the solution..

People of Okinawa wanted U.S. troops out since the end of the World War II. When South Korean Cheonan warship sank back in 2010(which South Korean government blamed North Korea), U.S. used this as an excuse to prolong U.S. military presence in Okinawa. U.S. is also building its naval bases in Jeju Island in South Korea as well. U.S. military presence in the East Asia is part of its hegemonic motive to besiege China as U.S.'s new arrival.

This crime shouldn't be viewed as an isolated incident, but more in connection to U.S. imperialism in the East Asia since the Cold War and with the current Obama government's "pivot to Asia" policy. More Japanese were raped and killed by U.S. soldiers than by Chinese. More South Koreans were raped and killed by U.S. soldiers than by North Koreans.

Yeah, and now when the west is loosing global power, while the BRIC-countries is rising up I can see that in a near future Japan an South Korea might cut dow on their military alliance/occupation with the US. we wll see.

it is obviously can be seen from the historical event that Japan is never a country that will give up.
American don't want to withdraw in Japan not only in order to against China but also to control Japan.

There is no continent or country or person you can go rape and kill...

There are many mentally unstable and twisted individuals in the u.s military ( in every military really)for sure but there far more people who try to do the right thing that serve too. Most of them are very nice and upright citizens. Many military people don't joint because they want to fight, but because they get their education and health care payed for. It is the go to option for many who do not know what they want to do or how they are going to pay for those things.

We shouldn't pull out of the region because of the bad apples. Not only do Japan and South Korea truly do not want the U.S to leave, it would be a bad situation for them both if the U.S did leave ( for the u.s too). In the end they do want the military presence for protection. Chinese pilots constantly provoke Japanese pilots by flying close to or in Japanese territory. I don't even have to explain s.koreas situation with n.korea to explain why u.s military presence is a good thing ( if there weren't so many degenerates raping and killing . If U.S was not in Okinawa ( might I remind you that is a very strategically sound island ) and south Korea who knows what other provocation may happen. Not to mention if some war did happen there would have to be a lot of deaths from troops and civilians to recapture those strategically advantageous spots. I'm sorry to say but Japan and s.Korea's military is not strong enough to defend on their own.

That does not excuse that soldiers actions and the actions of other sick soldiers that commit similar crimes and they should be dishonourably discharged, tried and convicted at stricter standards than ordinary citizens. since they have been given the duty of not only serving and protecting (ideally) but also representing the county they come from they should have to pay for their crimes no doubt.
