True ignorance is when you judge prematurely
They say china is encroaching on hong kong's freedom. That is such a frequent line in the media. Based on what?
"Mark Pinkstone, an Australian journalist with 50 years of experience in Hong Kong, said, “The Basic Law, the constitutional document that supports ‘one country, two systems,’ provides freedoms of expression, speech and religion. Not one of them has been eroded since the handover in 1997. The current demonstrations are living proof of that.”
www.asiatimes.com/20...w-of-hong-kong/
This is such a cheap baseless claim no different to debt trap diplomacy smear. What was the exact proof of debt trap diplomacy again?
An analysis by New York's Rhodium Group of 40 debt renegotiations made by China across 24 countries found "asset seizures are a very rare occurrence".
www.smh.com.au/world...502-p51jhx.html
And even on sri lanka, do you even know the larger context and that the claims are more to do with global politics than the real facts of the Sri Lankan case.
"In a leading UK newspaper, it claims Sri Lanka’s government was forced to sign the port away on a 99-year lease after failing to repay Chinese loans that were racking up 6.3 per cent.
The irony of such a claim is that if Sri Lanka is debt distressed, it owes much more to American and other Western entities than to its Chinese counterparts.
Additionally the Hambantota port lease was not a result of any inability to service the loans, nor was it a debt-for-equity swap — the Sri Lankan government still OWNS the port. And funds received for the lease were not used to repay port-related debt, but to pay off more expensive loans, generally to Western entities.
And both a past and a present governor of Sri Lanka’s central bank stressed in interviews, Sri Lanka has never defaulted on any loan payment and has not even sought to have any external debt rescheduled. But that public info and interview is not publicised fairly."

But people, even innocent passive readers, TOO EASILY take those frequent mass misleading media stories at face value and never seem to fact check it.
The problem with hong kongers is that they don't even question their media. They just take every word and claims at face value.

You want to smear me as a troll. Go ahead then. That still doesn't make what i write above any less true.

In 2016, Zeese served as an advisor to the Maryland, US Senate Campaign of Margaret Flowers, MD.
Both Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers support China.

The problem with hong kong is not the gov. Or china gov. The problem is that policies favor the rich and if policies should change directions. The rich foriegn investiors and private companies can always freely enmasse leave with their money to a better domicile and make HK a poorhouse. That’s always been the core dillemma that HK is excess ruled by money but oversimplified and exploited into partisan agended political opportunity. And instead of blaming it on the rich people and corporations, the lai media fires up nativism by blaming it all sqaurely on the mainlanders for economic inequality.
www.theguardian.com/...-rich-countries
The problem with hong kongers is that they don't even question their media. They just take every word and claims at face value. Apple daily or Lai's media has been unfairly blaming financial hardship on the mainlanders for a decade and never on the excess economic freedom reforms that benefit corps over people. That is unfair. The media boss had too much skin in the protest and was never one to write fair balanced articles.
Mint press is coordinated by an educated woman who is well known to western hawks who hates her and wishes to put dirt on her except she knows her stuff and unwilling to follow the program

When big companies fund academic research, the truth often comes last. When heavy corporates fund journalism, they are biased against socialism and same equivalent with gov run papers on favoring their own political stances.
My point is you can’t just chalk up a country to only talking about its bad side, rumors or USING its worst critics as experts. There are two sides and whenever a media only endorses one side but not the opposite or one with both sides. That creates an unfair tunnel narrative.
And if you rely on your mainstream media alone, you will never be aware of a much larger picture and the actual conflicts.
You want to know the irony about brainwashed chinese?

I had 100 percent BELIEVED that china gov marched soldiers to Tianamen Square in 89 and killed every single unarmed protester that were standing there on the spot. Yeh i read alot of such articles from western media even in china.
That was me at age 19. I hated the chinese gov for hiding that info..in our textbooks, they only taught us about hu's reforms, the violent fighting and all too tragic deaths about 5km west from the sqaure between soldiers and disillusioned workers who hated Deng for his new reforms that betrays Mao's communist vision, but that the end result of the reforms is deng was not wrong to fight for it. But they NEVER once mentioned firing on unarmed students in the middle of the square like cattle. Or that many of the protesters were fighting for democracy.
As i got older, i wanted to know more. On quora, i learned about Chai Ling from fellow chinese compatriots. I then read the Wikileaks report, eyewitness accounts, outcast journalist and Us embassy cables.
I couldn't believe it. I was indeed brainwashed but not by chinese media. NO. It was a slapping irony of Western corp owned media that had misled me. The below quora story from a western sinologist closely sums up my own life and own realisation. I asked myself why? after that.

*note - the above site is not a website that says "only conspiracy theory stories" are allowed here. And true stories with very well backed evidence are strictly not welcome. That's not how that site works.
It's a place where independant journalisms that corporate media wishes to brush aside, have at least one place to go. But integrity of an article will always depends on the individual author so fact checking is essential as with all media tbh.

Anyways this is what a basic chinese guy like me found out about 89.
In 1998 Washington Post journalist, Jay Mathews confessed in the Columbia Journalism Review that "no one die at Tiananmen Square" and that "It is hard to find a journalist who has not contributed to the misimpression" (including himself).
* In 2004 Christian Science Monitor revealed that the Human Rights Watch decided not to publish their own 52-page document that confirmed the Chinese side of the story.
* Are you aware of the circumstances under which these journalists suddenly decided to admit their years of contribution to the “misimpression”? Are you aware that they then tried to change the story to a “Beijing Massacre” with the exception of Graham Earnshaw – a Reuters journalist?
* Do you know about how the power of language can overshadow the silent evidence (images produced by the media) that tells otherwise?
* Are you aware of the declassified documents published by the National Security Archive in 1999?
* Are you aware of the many eye witnesses and the then protesters’ accounts of the incident? Are you aware of the works of historians, embassy cables, WikiLeaks leaked documents, the Spanish camera team video, and video footage from the Chinese media showing student protesters being allowed to leave the Square peacefully?
* Are you aware that the soldiers dispatched to Tiananmen Square were initially unarmed? Are you aware that they were ordered not to shoot? Are you aware that the armies were attacked by the so-called “unarmed” and “peaceful” protesters with dozens of deaths and thousands injured?
* Are you aware that the Tiananmen Square protesters were allowed to protests freely for up to seven weeks, and that the Chinese government initiated several dialogues with the students from almost the very beginning of the protests urging for time to fix the problems?
* Can you understand the concept of human rights in developing countries is not a single sum game, and that cracking down on uncompromising protesters may sometimes be the most humane thing a government could do for the overall wellbeing of the nation and the people?
* Are you aware of the two articles published in The Japan Times by Gregory Clark, vice president of Akita International University and a former China desk officer for Australia’s Foreign Service? Are you aware of how he criticised the British, American and the Australian media on the issue of agenda-based packed journalism

Despite all the evidence and witnesses reports, it didn’t ever matter.
They turned a blind eye to their own western evidence and the witness reports and instead chose to take Biased liars like student leader Chai ling, at face value and presented her accounts as solid facts. They don’t care if it’s based on verbal accounts. China kept telling them that it didn’t happen like that but NYT kept publishing lies and misleading black info myths.
But there are always still decent westerners who refuse to throw away their integrity to toe the sheep media line.
Ie. GREGORY CLARK. He is an aussie whose work will NEVER be published by western mainstream media because he refuses to omit information. He refuses to hide the lies that NYT and western media makes and follow their program. Ironically a japanese media publishes what western media mafia refuses to let the world know.
