I digress a little, but I had a very interesting chat with this Indian dude, and for him, eating beef is bizarre, and quite rightly so !

The rest of that list grasshoppers included made me want to hurl though, well maybe not the meats, if cooked.

Never had it, never will, but goat balls still take the cake in my mind for being the most     hurl worthy food. Then again, fish sperm.....

Really? What's natto taste like? Does it taste anything like soy milk?

They actually taste good, and starchy like ruffles brand potato chips. If you took the saltiness out of ruffles, & you added say 15-25% unsalted saltine cracker with a mild .0125 coffee bean flavor/after taste that would be what they are like in their normal unseasoned state. Texture wise they are like a cross between lentil beans, and say snow pea, peas that have been fried.

You can mix them with Japanese mustard, in small quantity to make them more tart, and add soy sauce to add saltiness. Or you can take furikake which is desicated caviar, salmon meat, etc, with seaweed flakes, and mix it in with the mustard packet & nattos. Then you eat them with white rice, as flavoring.

The taste or texture are not extreme, and it carries no odor whatsoever until you mix in soy sauce or furikake. I think the fermenting gives it a bad rap, that and the appearance.

They DO look kind of gross but I like yogurt which is fermented milk

I just had to try the famed Korean chicken feet. It wasn't easy to put a foot into my mouth... But once I got over the initial horror they turned out to be quite tasty.

If you think this is gross, you haven't seen anything yet... nothing could convince me to try Bondegi (silkworm larvae).

..hmm....

I guess squid sushi...

heck, years ago, I would not even touch seaweed on sushi, let alone raw meat of any sort. Now I love my raw salmon XD.

.....and OMG the spiders! nothing puts a shock on my face like spiders...*shudder*...

I have tried Buffalo meat...-apparently it is healthier than beef. There are farmed buffalo in Saskatchewan. ( I think they are neat looking..I am sad I ate one)

I would never eat a reptile---they are way too neat to be a food item--alive, preferred, and in their homes.

no live octopus... a friend recommended it to me, though. apparently she really liked it. I didn't get the chance to try it, but maybe I would've freaked out to eat a moving thing anyway...

for anyone interested in unusual Korean food, here's a nice overview.

I once got a Canadian girl to eat Stinky tofu, she got so frightened at it that she almost burst into tears. Maybe wasn't the right thing to do on my part. It was a lot of fun though. lol
