one more gripe for now: my mom, who has centered her whole life around the news for 40+ years decided to ask me if i heard what happened yesterday. i said "no, what? (thinking there might have been something major like a school shooting or something)" she said there was some fire in Canada and an explosion in a plant in Houston. oh goody, more useless information because how the hell am i going to go on with my life without knowing there's fire somewhere in the world and chemicals occasionally explode. holy jesus, that's the news i've been waiting my whole life to hear. who f*cking cares, get a life.

I've read some real ignorant shit in these forums but this asinine comment takes the cake. The fire may not mean shit to you but up to 90,000 people were ordered to evacuate from their homes.
