What's your favorite URM?

To put an extremely long, complicated story short, Brian Wells was sent into a bank with a bomb attached to his neck and a cane gun. After being caught by the police, he was surrounded and eventually the bomb detonated, leaving him dead and the supposed assailants alive. There is supposedly 3-4 other people involved, and there is a lot of debate on whether Brian Wells was an assailant or a victim, used by the others to get money.

The recent Netflix documentary on the case (Evil Genius, link to an article www.telegraph.co.uk/...rime-sensation/ )

How would he know it's a real bomb? I guess probably only he or conspirators would know.

Law enforcement would just be more biased against Wells to avoid being responsible for possibly an innocent man's death. And to strongly discourage copycats who think this is a good idea to get away with anything if they say he's innocent. But Wells could have been using the bomb collar as his fake story/ legal defense on why he commited the crime if caught. Reasonable doubt and all that. That's some diabolical sh*t.

Making a bomb isn't impulsive but requires chemistry skills and careful hands. They didn't want to get caught and obviously did a lot of thinking. Minimize the risk and kill the loose end if he fails his mission.

But it's unclear on Brian Wells. The more article I read of him, the more uncertain and confused I am on what was going on. Serial killers target peole who are easily accesible - runaways, young people travelling alone, homless, etc It seems logical they would choose a guy who can easily be ambushed and conveninetly lured in. He was a pizza delivery guy.

However he wasn't actually given enough time to rob all the designated places before the bomb was timed to blow. Maybe it was just to make him alot harder to think properly under time pressure and fear. And they would have intercepted him and took the money halfway. But was it even about the money? Or some sadistic sociopathic game being played. Who knows?

My Favorite URM - the aussie woman who famously accused a dingo for taking her baby. People say she used it as false defense and she killed her baby. Nowadays the case is used as an example of just how media and human bias can adversely affect a trial regardless of evidence.

Well the bomb ended up exploding and killing him with a huge cave in his chest, so I guess it's real.

That dingo one reminded me of the owl staircase case. Woman died whilst going down stairs. Wounds very similar to an injury caused by a tool. Clues points to the husband. In the end, it turned out to be an owl who struck her in the yard and she died after going inside to check what had happened.

Well we do live in a world where most murdered women are killed by their partners. In america, they say it's like over half the time when a woman dies. It's because of a romantic partner or an ex. So of course the husband will be the top likely suspect given the stats.

And I meant how did Brian Wells know it was a real bomb before detonation? If some strangers came to you and forced you to wear what they claim is a bomb collar. I wouldn't just take their word for it since majority of people wouldn't know how to make one. He seemed to be very scared but maybe it's like Russian roulette. He wasn't sure but just didn't want to find out.

Or he knew solidly it was a bomb because he was real familiar with the bomb-makers or they done a demo for him. Or was pretending to be scared. So many parts of the story is missing and open to speculation. Kinda like the owl story. Where it's just hard to know what the truth really is.
