obviously culture and personality will be drastically different, but there are personality differences everywhere. I think Asian Americans are more chill and lack that ultra-competitive neurosis of people from Asia has.

Preferences for friendship? Dating?

yeah, all walks of life everywhere. only type of people i dont get along with are people who are aggressive by nature and really outgoing individuals. youll find these type of people in every country, culture and what not.

I guess I am both. Me vs myself, I am able to see both side. Grow up in Taiwan until age of 15 and moved to US until now (25 years). My friend back home look at me Americanized and my friend in US look at me, a bit of FOB. I am sort of mix culture now.

There are some differences but still a lot of similarities..For example, Filipino-Americans, the ones that are born and raised in the USA still largely value family, religion, education, hard work and cuisine --- this is ingrained in the Filipino culture, no matter where the Filipinos are born and raised outside the Philippines, they mostly identify with their heritage.

There are two different types
1. Non native asians
Asian americans or asian canadians for example.....who were born there but culturally they cant be seen as the native asians anymore. Some asian countries china japan korea indonesia malaysia vietnam will see em as foreigner because they have a different citizenship status and most of em hardly speak native asian language

2. The native asians
Chinese japanese indonesians malaysians.vietnamese etc who still speak their own mothertongue. They were born in asian continent and culturally they are 100 percent native asians even they study in the US later...

I once talked to one malay asian girl who was born in Amsterdam but she is unable to speak her mother tongue malay....her mother tongue is dutch.

this is the ideal outcome for anyone who still has a connection to their ethnic background. unfortunately a lot of second generation children and beyond have totally neglected their heritage. it breaks my heart when i see a chinese kid pick french fries over a bowl of rice. perhaps a good belting is needed to bring out visions of what its like to live under a traditional asian household.
