And 20% of Floridians speak Spanish as their first language. That's not counting people who speak/are learning Spanish as a second language. Latino and Spanish-speaking populations will continue to increase, in fact, it's been said that white people won't be the majority in the US by 2050.
But spanish people is white.....
And? We're not talking about Spain. We're talking about the Americas. People from Spain aren't the only people who speak Spanish. Because Spain colonized the vast majority of the Americas. There's hundreds of millions more Latin American Spanish speakers than Spanish Spanish speakers lol. Probably 99% of the Spanish speakers in the US are Latin American, not Spanish. There are white people from Latin American countries but the majority of the Latino immigrants to the US are mestizo, which means they have Indigenous ancestry. Hispanic and Latino are not 'races' per se, they're cultures. But many, many Latinos are indigenous or mixed with indigenous. I guess this is confusing to someone that's not from any American country; in fact it's confusing to most white Americans.
tl;dr -
race ≠ language
nationality ≠ race
The Spanish language isn't exclusive to one race.

Now lets get back to the topic
As far as Iam concerned that the most older chinese generation hated the west in the mainland china...
The chinese oversea people are just becoming a different folk and are not the same like people of the mainland.
Anti western media such as Whatsapp FB GOOGLE YAHOO YOUTUBE had succeeded in the mainland China for decades. They are banned due to the patriotism reason ...led by the communist party upthere.
Any people have experienced all these things during your visit in the mainland china?
I ve never been there but my former schoolmate who now lives in hong kong told me about those stuffs

english while being the most widely spoken language, is really not needed in some countries like china and japan. hell even hong kong no longer places fluency in english as a highly regarded qualification. and i dont think it has anything to do with patriotism. its just not that important of a language to know over there.

Most of the mainland chinese travellers got a communication problem ..the tourist agency must hire a certified mandarin tourist speaking guide. It costs extra alot of money. Young people from Taiwan Malaysia and HK do speak much better english
Exceptionally some chinese mainland students are residing in Australia ...they speak fluently english ...but many others just dont ...the older generation is more fucked up..many of em never travelled outside China before.
That similar problem had happened to the most japanese tourists too. i met some of em in JOHOR MALAYSIA....i couldnt catch any words what they 'd mentioned. Their vocabulary knowledge is just miserable.
Now forget about grammar usage... They even dont know how to spell the words and the terms correctly. So our travel agency must hire a certified japanese or chinese speaking tourist guides. It costs alot of money...

The former jugoslavia is problematic such as albania serbia croatia bosnia kosovo ... Poor country with a bad school system . I once handled 11 tourists from croatia... We had a communication problem... Only 2 persons tried bloody hard to speak english ..

Unable to speak English well, doesn't actually mean they don't know basic English at all.
They could be self-conscious as westerners tend to expect really fluent standards for spoken English from foreigners and also English native speakers tend to speak a lot of unfamiliar slang which can just be additionally confusing for them. China actually is or rapidly becoming the world's largest English speaking population. Their biggest issue is probably the pronunciation and sadly understanding some foreign English accents easily. But when it comes to vocabulary or written English, some of the younger Chinese actually do freakishly well. They even know difficult words like "superfluous" haha. You have to remember they start learning English in 3rd grade so that's for a majority of them - about a decade of mandatory English lessons there. However, the ESL teachers especially in less wealthier regions kinda suck and teach in broken English themselves so their pronunciation and listening is probably their biggest barrier and hindrance for many of them.
But there are plenty of American tv shows like prison breaks that are popular in China with subtitles, so still plenty are pretty confident of their speaking and understanding of English.

Even still, if they're only a visitor to an English speaking country and horrible at English - they will still get by just using a translater app or device. No reason to avoid visiting there just because they're not fluent. omg.
Chinese tend to use Baidu app a lot which is pretty advanced in translating Chinese into English. I heard last year, they are starting to develop AI/deep learning to help make it even more accurate/advanced than it is now. So even zero-English speaking Chinese tourists can just use a smartphone app and it will just be their basic virtual interpreter for them.

I've also been recently seeing many youtube ads on ILI which is a Japanese brand for a type of traveler hand-held one-way translater device. It's targeted at Japanese consumers but on their American sites, the devices offered on sale, can also help translate your vocal English into Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, and even Korean audio. So even non-Chinese or non-japanese speaking noob westerners can navigate deep into Japan and china without necessarily having to understand the language. Albeit they have to be creative in using it to communicate. Never used it myself but it has rave reviews. And not sure how it's better than an advanced free app tho.
But pretty sure other devices like ILI would similarly exist for the Chinese domestic markets.

P.S. Also what travelers are you referring to? I've met a few Chinese tourist couples in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region and they seem to know English pretty well. AT least the wealthier ones who tend to be educated and can afford to jet-set around. I don't think I have ever met a Chinese millennial vacationer in Australia who wasn't in the richer upper-middle class.
Do you really mean the much older gen that travels in large groups? They travel that way precisely because they don't know much English, clueless with apps, and hence are willing to actually pay good money for a special tour guide who knows both English and mandarin. It's a dying industry. The younger Chinese tourists tend to travel alone now as they tend to be more tech-savvy instead and feel more confident in their ability to navigate independently as they should know some minimal English. Especially among the wealthier younger age bracket that actually can afford to travel overseas for vacations. Ofc there will always be at least 20 percent who seem incapable of speaking any English at all but they are STILL not the majority from my pov. You have to be pretty stupid to go through a near-decade of compulsory English classes and not pick up anything solid lmao.

with the youth of today, it is chinese kids who are probably most educated in english out of the mentioned countries. local kids, yes they are lacking. but the ones who end up studying abroad, and there are whole heap of them, are almost guaranteed to have a degree of fluency. you can clearly see this in universities.
as for old people, you cant hold it against them for not knowing. they are afterall from a different generation. however, as a hongkie, i am proud to say that a lot of the older generation hongkies are very capable in english.
i can see english isnt your first language either. im surprise you place so much importance towards it? if its problematic for your workplace, charge extra for your tours to cover for the translator?
