The not so obvious claim to fame of your town was created by kari

Is there something interesting about your hometown / the place you live(d) that a tourist wouldn't know?

The coffee filter was invented in Dresden, Germany. Someone else would have invented it eventually, but it's fun to know that something millions of people use every day was invented in my hometown!

On July 8, 1908, the first paper coffee filter was invented by German housewife Melitta Bentz. She wanted to remove the bitter taste caused by boiling loose grounds or using the typical method of linen to brew coffee.[3] She patented her invention and formed a company, Melitta, to sell the coffee filters, hiring her husband and two sons to assist her as the first employees.

My town is know as the town that does not exist, a conspiracy joke started by college students..It spread all over..

Fredrikstad was awarded in 2017 to be the country's most attractive City, but what a tourist May not know is DO NOT SWIM in the river. The currents are So strong that you Will drown. Also our ferries are free. You can travel all over the City without being charged a penny.

My Hometown is in the valley of Himalaya where 1000s of medicinal plants are found. Shares 5 international borders China, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh & India. Too many wild animals are also found here like tiger, elephant, snow leopard, leopard, deers, black bear, white bear, fox, rhino, wolf and himalayan crocodile. We don't buy mushroom and pineapple we get for free from the forest

This building is in my city: Gijón. Built between 1946 and 1955 by the Ministry of Labour, it is the most important architectural work built in the 20th century in Asturias and is considered, with its 270,000 m2, the biggest building in Spain. The original aim of the building was giving education to orphaned childs whose parents were victims of accidents in mining works.

1. Yale University

2. Some of the best Pizza in the country - Frank Pepe Pizzaeria, Modern Apizza, Sally's Apizza

3. Touted as having invented the American Burger - Louis' Burger
