Not sure what the situation is within other countries but interested to get other people's opinion...

I live in the UK. Recently we have seen a drive towards becoming more eco-friendly. This has involved watering down the petrol grade by increasing the ethanol content. Standard petrol is now being marketed as 'premium'. Petrol now breaks old car engines that can't run on the new fuel.

The goal is to prevent the sales of traditional petrol vehicles from 2030 onwards. It's almost 2022 now. There have been reports of existing EV charger networks being out of operation, leading to people becoming 'stranded' on longer commutes.

I drove a Tesla. It was lovely. Very fast, smooth ride. But will the batteries last? If the battery depletes in its entirety, are you left with a very expensive rock? Is it actually that much more efficient considering the power behind the batteries needs to first be generated? Is the manufacturing process, disposal process, or the recycling of units both efficient or morally sound? Are journeys actually more autonomous or less autonomous due to longer 'refuelling' times and additional planning involved during a trip? Are prices of such vehicles just too prohibitively high for masses to adopt, without a sky high finance plan?

Personally I don't think we're ready for this. Convince me otherwise.
