Smartphones - too smart?

I have a smartphone. I must say, it is very smart. It allows to me to browse websites such as this one without the need for a computer. It doubles up as a GPS for navigating new routes to places in my car. It delegates the job of general knowledge and having to memorise facts to itself. It allows me to listen to music from any artist of my fancy, at any time of the day (assuming I maintain my Spotify premium membership).

It even has voice activated commands allowing me to ask it questions without any physical interaction. More recently I haven't even had to ask Google to get it to listen to me before providing me with a perfect text transcription of my voice (how considerate). It attentively listens to every word I say, and rewards me with relevant advertising towards products of my choosing. It suggests topics in line with places I've visited in my car or mentioned in passing. It tracks my spending habits through convenient NFC payments. It helps me connect with old friends over facebook I may have mentioned during conversation. It provides me with endless entertainment in a room full or people. It allows me to avoid eye contact with others and better craft my own personal online image. More recently, it has allowed me to know when I have been near someone with covid, and pings me to tell me when I need to self isolate for an additional 10 days to keep me safe. It will also probably hold my covid passport allowing me to access to exotic new locations such as nightclubs.

Are the assumed comforts of our smartphones worth the price?

I am a touch typist I hate trying to type on an iPad or cell phone. I need a real keyboard. The cell phone is a spying tool and a weapon besides the benefits.

I prefer Huawei!
