Uploading works for me and other users... it might be a browser specific issue. Which browser are you using and can you please try a different one?

If the image is large or the server connection is slow it might take a moment for the filename to show up next to the "Choose File" button. Can you confirm that the file name is shown there before you hit the Update button?

The Online Users Timeout doesn't behave consistently. We're hoping this will improve with future updates of the software we use. It depends on a couple of functions we cannot alter without causing problems in other functionality

Yes and no. A troll with too much time and money on their hand has been attacking our server for the last couple of months. With the hosting we can afford with only ad income there is a limit to what we can do about that quickly. However, we still have a number of things we can do... and we're working on it when we can (real-life jobs and important life events permitting).
What's important is that you're sticking with us

Profile images require approval from a moderator. Apparently the notification about this broke, sorry!

It's a feature, not a bug

The long story:
Some modules of the software we use don't handle IPv6 well, so IPv6 has been blocked for most of Hey-Ai's existence. As long as your internet provider - at home/work/public wifi or your mobile provider - offers dual stack*, this isn't an issue. However, many providers now silently discontinued IPv4 and moved their users over to the pure IPv6 lifestyle.
* dual stack: a user receives both an IPv4 AND an IPv6 address

The short story:
We changed some stuff and hope that it will work. Let us know if parts of the site break
