We were just ready. We had been together for about three years at that point and it was time. We are both a bit on the more old fashioned traditional side when it comes to marriage and things like that and we just knew that we were meant to be. He's in the military so he had been living in Germany for a while and I was able to get a job on the military base which allowed me to stay in the country. Language was never a barrier. A lot of people can speak or understand at least basic english, so that was always the least of our concerns. A lot of people say long distance relationships don't work and that is true. They won't work unless you set some sort of date or deadline. When it comes to moving across the world, one person will have to give up their friends and family and start a new life. There is no point in doing all of that if there are no intentions to get married. It's all worth it in the end.
