That scene in the movie JFK, when Jim Garrision the prosecuting attorney in the Dallas JFK murder trial implores his wife to care, on Easter Sunday as he leaves for work. She was upset because he was never around to help with the kids, he was upset, because she couldn't see the importance of his work, and principle in American life.

I felt sad because, the truth is most Americans do not care for what really matters. They care for how they feel right now. This scene hit the core of why we will fail as a nation. American ideals are too great for mere people.
