The two disciplines I adore. I'm happy to share my recent interests.

My recent focus in psychology:
www.amazon.com/Silen.../dp/0757315879/
www.amazon.com/The-E.../dp/055335275X/
These two are classic works on the notion of emotional incest, which is often neglected and unrealized but very crucial in parent-child relationships.

When it comes to philosophy, most of the ones I've read are textbooks. But there have been a few good books I've found interesting. I have not read through these yet, but they seem like great books.
www.amazon.com/Short.../dp/0195101960/
www.amazon.com/Cambr.../dp/0521477190/

And one more on existential psychology, overlapping both disciplines.
www.amazon.com/Mans-.../dp/0807014273/
This one is a long-time classic written by Viktor Frankl who was a holocaust survivor and a psychotherapist. If you haven't read it, this is a must-read.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Seriously, read it if you haven't already. I have never expected a life changing experience simply by reading a book. But it happened. It is a truly awesome book, it takes only about 3 hours to read through and it helps you a lot about understanding yourself and your dreams.

do you mean fiction or non-fiction?
non-fiction psychochology = I only know German ones, if you can find anything by Michaela Huber, they're good - I recommend.
fiction psychology = the girls he adored by Jonathan Nasaw

as for Philosophy, read Sartre. Brilliant man, Brilliant brain.
Novels = "Nausea"& "Les Mots" are fabulous.
Essays = "Existentialism and Humanism", "The Imaginary" and "L'Être et le néant" (Being and Nothingness)
Oh and
"L’Étranger" (also a Novel) by Albert Camus is an all time Classic, so, there you go!

ENJOY!

High five on existentialism B)

speaking of fictional psychology... I wanna add to the list here the one I'm currently reading:
When Nietzsche Wept by Irvin Yalom
It is a fiction on treating Nietzsche's despair, written by a psychologist. There's also a movie adaptation.

well, when it comes to philosophy, i think osho is pretty interesting, i don't agree with everything he says though and at reading i try to put apart what i think it could help me and what to me sounds kinda extreme...but i read "meditation", "think of the impossible before breakfast" and "creativity" (which was for me, the most useful one)
i also like edward de bono, i read a bit of "lateral thinking" and "six thinking hats", plus i also read "creative workout" and it was reeaaaally good
