i guess its pretty unusual that a guy like me here some taylor swift songs but this one is the newest which was released a couple of days ago. i like this song to be honest, but her songs are pretty the same when you make some comparisons you will noticed the flow of the songs which are pretty similar. im not a taylor swift fan but this song is a great one but like i said nearly every song from her is pretty similar...

"Said I ain't got a home
I'm out here all alone
No I ain't got a home
I'll forever roam..."
I think this is a feeling specific to hapas and Asian Americans born in the States pre 1990's, before the tight restrictions were lifted on who could immigrate to the US from Asia. We couldn't fly back and forth freely and were cutoff from our motherlands for the most part (I only visited Korea once as a child). We are treated as perpetual foreigners in the country we were born in and also made to feel like foreigners when we visit our ancestors' motherlands. Where do we find home? For me it's always been in my romantic relationships...

It reminds me of a German poem I've read a few weeks ago. It's written by Mascha Kaleko.
Die frühen Jahre
Ausgesetzt
In einer Barke von Nacht
Trieb ich
Und trieb an ein Ufer.
An Wolken lehnte ich gegen den Regen.
An Sandhügel gegen den wütenden Wind.
Auf nichts war Verlaß.
Nur auf Wunder.
Ich aß die grünenden Früchte der Sehnsucht,
Trank von dem Wasser das dürsten macht.
Ein Fremdling, stumm vor unerschlossenen Zonen,
Fror ich mich durch die finsteren Jahre.
Zur Heimat erkor ich mir die Liebe
The Early Years
Exposed
In a skiff of night
I floated
And floated to a bank.
On clouds I leaned against the rain.
On sandhills against the furious wind.
Nothing was to be trusted.
Only miracles.
I ate the green fruits of desire,
Drank from the water that thirsts.
A stranger, mute in the face of unexplored areas,
I was freezing through the dark years.
As my home I chose love.

Thanks for sharing. In my experience it wasn't until I learned how to [healthily] love myself that I learned how to truly love others.
