33 year ago from today, Karen Carpenter, a vocalist of Carpenters, died from heart failure caused by complications of an eating disorder anorexia nervosa. According to studies done by National Eating Disorders Association, "In the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified(EDNOS).(Wade, Keski-Rahkonen, & Hudson, 2011)" I can't stress this enough that gender gap of such a report also clearly shows that eating disorders are "social diseases" related to subjugation of women that plays its role of objectifying women with socially restricted notion of "beauty," than just clinical issues. While eating disorders was unknown when Karen Carpenter died, her death have increased awareness of such diseases. It should be reminded that eating disorders(along with repressive social expectation and limited notion of women's beauty) are one of many obstacles that must be fought against, along the line of fight against institutional sexism and rape culture, I would like to play this piece in remembrance of Karen Carpenter, and dedicate to all the women who are struggling against this social sickness as well.

yep, even without makeup she probably still looks young. there may be laugh lines and all of that, but they're likely not too sharp yet.

people with baby faces also don't look their age unless they have big smiles that bring out "crows feet."
