The internet makes it so much easier to really like something, to interact with people who like that something. There're probably a million k-pop based fansites out there; it's all over Tumblr. So going from that environment to a more neutral one, where people don't have the same opinion, it can be a shock.

But hopefully most of them are young, and most of them'll get over it.

Or they can move into politics. I think being a fangirl is an excellent precursor for being a politician.
