LET'S TALK ABOUT METAL

What are some of your opinions about NSBM(National Socialist Black Metal) bands and music?

Some believes that metalheads should boycott them, while others believe that music and politic should be separated, and that one can enjoy the music without agreeing with politic behind the music as long as music is good.

Since there are lot of people here from Germany(where I assume this can be more sensitive), I wonder what you all think.

Some of my thoughts on da metalz

As far as my tastes go, I like my metal "pure" for the most part... no gimmicks, no costumes, really stripped down and raw... Pantera, Megadeth, Motorhead, Slayer, (Old school) Metallica, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, TBDM, Hatebreed, Death, Necrophagist, and others. So, there really is a sound (as well as image) I go for. I'm a bit bias with my metal. I don't really care for the whole "Black Metal" scene, not really into makeup, effects, and such, although I AM A FAN OF Alice Cooper. Not much into KISS, although they did influence SCORES OF other metal bands to come. Don't really dig Judas Priest and the whole "hell bent on leather" stuff, Not a fan of Iron Maiden... I know, there's a lot of metal I don't really care for lol. What I indeed truly DIG about heavy metal, and what I listen to the most, is the guitar playing... Catchy riffs (Dimebag grooves, Tony Iommi of course, John Petrucci even), cool melodic soloing and phrasing (I even dig neo-classical stuff like Marty Friedman's work with Megadeth, Jason Becker, Yngwie, a lot of Jeff Loomis, Paul Gilbert, etc.) fast, exotic scales and licks... Speed is good, speed KILLS, but ALL Speed w/o feeling is like a really fast sports car with the engine running and the pedal down going at TOP SPEED, but with nobody behind the wheel to steer it and take it somewhere. I need soul in all of my music, even in my heavy metal. What I'm keen on actually listening to is phrasing. A solo has to be somewhat catchy, interesting... in my opinion. THAT'S what I enjoy listening to when it comes to guitar playing, which is one of the highlights of listening to heavy metal music in the first place!!!!!

they just got awards on category Metal as F*ck from Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2013 last year.
