Fashionistas Anyone?

I love fashion, and I see few people here that I can relate too. So, I was thinking that we don't talk about fashion maybe because we don't understand it.

In this thread you can add whatever you want about your sense of style.

We may not be slaves to style or fashion but we do use it everyday. And who doesn't like to look good?


At the moment i'm obsessed with Liquid Lipstick.



It's a tinted liquid lipstick that's waterproof. So even if i lick my lips the color will still stay there without the whole lipgloss messy residue.



And this trench coat by Michael Kors makes the laziest of days a looker.



And Mary Jane red pumps are the most comfortable uncomfortable looking shoes ever. They add a little vintage feel to a simple trench coat.

I'm not a genius on this type of things, but i do know a few tricks or two, so don't be scared to ask! Gender does not matter.

- shorts/boardies

Question:
Why is socks and sandals such a fashion taboo? I just don't get how something so ridiculously comfortable is considered a no go in public? I mean you see the oldies go about sporting the foot wear but I find it bizarre how vintage clothing has taken off (which is essentially old people's clothing) but not socks and sandals...?

I don't think there's a problem with that. I think it's okay for grocery shopping , maybe hang out with your friends at home. But other than that it's a no. I wouldn't want to see a man I'm going a date with wear that on a first date. Unless we end up in your couch lazying around.

And it also depends on what you're wearing them with. What is your ensemble ? Kakhis ? Dress up pants? Shorts? That's a major factor. Nothing classy or formal should be worn with that! I've seen those men and it's intimidating to say the least. Laughs.

Socks in sandals are meant for comfort. If we were at least Comfortable with each other I wouldn't mind. But other than that...

Yes its comfortable, as should all clothing be? Still doesn't explain why it's such a no go?

Even my non-conforming hipster bunch of friends give me grief about it. And that says something. What, I don't know?

There's gotta be some kind of rational explanation.

Say for instance high heels... impractical footwear for women and a few discerning men. However I can somehow convincingly deduce it (with a fair few holes) to myself with some pseudo biodeterministic answer ie perceived longer legs, perky butts etc.

But socks and sandals? Nope.

I have an addiction to jeans like no other, I own over 15 pairs.
I bought a pair of black acid wash ones the other day. I also alter my own jeans (bleach and acid wash them myself and distress them)

My style is just kind of a avril lavigne crossed with hippy new age stuff.
I do love animal print, in good taste.

I’m really into??
Vintage, retro, punk and floral (I prefer to look really clean and cut when I’m out to dinner though)
I love collars and woollens; I’m so glade autumns coming soon.

I really want clear out my wardrobe and bring in some new things, I tend to have trouble mixing and matching my clothing. Do you have any tips for if I get stuck??

simple tee's, pattern button up shirts+bowtie, skinny jeans, slim fit chino's, leather shoes(always with laces), blazers, cardigans. leather belts.


Make up?
only on tuesdays, for guys probably just moisturising your face? oh and never use hair gel, just hair products that make your hair look natural...styling mud for example.

What do you like to see on the apposite gender?
anything that is appropriate for the occasion.
but i do like girls who wear less make up.
dresses are nice, as long as they arent too short and way undersized.
oversized tee's with skinny jeans is always cute.
and i like natural and sometimes messy hair.
and i dont like heels that are way too ridiculous... then again its probably because i am short.

Rock, casual, black and white. I'm very bad in combining colours therefore I usually wear basic colours.

Leather. I love leather jackets and belts!

Make up?
Usually just a little mascara and lip stick.

What do you like to see on the opposite gender?
Leather jackets! On some guys a three day beard looks really sexy, too
