Thank you so much for every day you have given me in the last year and for all those yet to come. I love you, Yi.

As much as I want to fit in or as much as I want to have a good conversation, it's never good enough. My English got better overtime while being on here but it's still lacking to understand what some forums are about. I want to have that 'basic knowledge' that everyone talks about as well. It's making me feel sad. Do I have to study about it to understand the topic? Is it even basic knowledge? Do people talk about it regularly? Is it because my mother tongue is not English? (That isn't it because lots of people from other countries do sound more knowledgeable) . It's so frustrating. It's never good enough. I do not know. My English just seems pathetic, lacking and sad compared to the other ones who talk on forums. Why?

Dis you think it's maybe because they live in the anglo-saxon countries? Others are just good learning languages.
If you don't understand some threat, Google translate will be your best friend, trust me ;)

this is a good sermon about getting rid of the ego. i don't know if anybody wants to hear it but i had to pass it on anyway because it's enjoyable. it's a popular sermon but i had never heard the whole thing before:

ask lots of questions in each thread you're wanting to chat in. don't worry. if you don't understand it, ask about it. you'll do just fine.

This was really surprising to hear, because your English seems great  . From your grammar I couldn't have guessed that you have any struggle at all. I wouldn't fuss about it too much over words that are not familiar to you. Those are quick Google searches. You have very good sentence structures and grammars, better than some native English speakers even. That seems like the essence of language, at least for writing communication. Words can be looked up, but the structure of the language cannot be learned as easily.

In contrast with what 1700 New Zealand High School boys did, here is what 20 kids (ages 5 to 13) did in a school in France :

Not sure of any school pupils who would pay tribute to their teachers where I live.

An art director here has a wife who owns 2 cupcake stores. Just tried a bacon/cornbread cupcake & instantly gained 30 lbs & diabetes.
