my diet now involves eating meat only once a day. i've made a list of things to make for the rest of the day about 20 items long and it's all carbs :( (except for salad and fruits) like potatoes and pecan tarts and macaroni and cheese and a grilled bacon sandwich on occasion. what to do? i saw a recipe once of flourless peanut butter cookies. anywho i will google for answers.

on tv it says barley will prevent diabetes. idk if that's true.

There are only 3 macronutrients, protein, carbs and fat (There are 4 but I assume most people shouldn't get their calories from alcohol). If you cut down on meat, you could get your protein from other forms like eggs, milk products, soy and etc. You could get healthy fat sources like avocado, nuts, olive/canola/coconut oil. If cut down on protein, you need to up your fat intake to fill in your caloric needs. Else you'll end up just eating a bunch of carbs, which arguably isn't even healthier, and may be worse for you if you get a lot of that carbs from white flour and sugar.

As far as diabete prevention concerned, you actually want a high protein high fat and low carb diet. For the carbs you do eat, you want carbs with low glycemic index, so they don't spike your blood sugar. Glycemic index of food can be readily found on Google. High protein and high fat diet doesn't have to be unhealthy as long as total calorie count are not excessive and you eat plenty of veggies with it. Good protein sources like eggs, chicken and fish, with limited red meat are good for you. I already mentioned good fat sources.

ok, thank you, i bookmarked the glycemic index so i'll know what to eat. i've been eating lean meats, eggs, and chocolate soy milk but didn't know i should have a high protein, high fat, and low carb diet to prevent diabetes. i always make pasta (a mix of whole grain and the regular kind) with diced tomatoes (no spaghetti sauce) and only eat cheesy dishes occasionally but still wondered if it was overkill, but the index will help me now, thank you.

^ Those waves look surfable. If I could stand up for more than a second. Need to practice.
Must of been a fun ride in that picture.

I would suggest "King of High School' and "Angel Eyes." I have't finished Angel Eyes, but I loved the story-line. I'm just busy in school. Both have a good amount of comedy and great acting. You can also check out "Boys Over Flowers." I have to admit it's cheesy but very funny. It was based off a manga series. My favorite Historical Drama would have to be Jung Yi, the Goddess of Fire. This is based on a true story with a little twist in fiction. You can check out these drama's on VIKI or Dramafever. (both free.) Hope these were good suggestions for you to check out.
