Well thanks for sharing your experiences I'm confident that more ppl on here will have their country going to lockdown in the near future. Many ppl have lost their job, pretty lucky to still have mine yet it's still important to think of others in these circumstances and help each other out whenever possible.

Yeah, same thing happened around the world ... beaches in Florida, clubs in Berlin, and so on

I spent a total of one month in Chile last year and this year. I flew out of Santiago for Barcelona on February 13. At that time, everything seemed calm, the only thing people were anticipating back then was that the protests might come back in March.

Well, at least you have a national health system in place. In America, you have to count on your luck or money. As for the CDC numbers, they changed the h1n1 numbers by a factor of 100 afterwards to reflect the "real statistics".

And what happens if you personally do have a mild cough?

Do you go to the doctors where there are plenty of actual sick people where you're more likely to cross paths with actual infected people who go there for help. It's probably nothing but I don't have a fever. There's probably many logical benign reasons why I have a mild cough but deep down am certain it's just house chores a few days ago and running the fan all day when there's dust everywhere. I've been using cough lozenges to kill the swelling in my throat and drinking alot of tea.

To tell you the truth, with the exception of certain online stores no longer accepting new orders and the supermarket enforcing a 2 item limit for milk and rice. I am confident that i am able to go out and buy all of the groceries i need. And yes that includes toilet paper. But you just have to go to the shops like at 7am on the dot.

There are people prepping and hoarding excessively but my livelihood and groceries convenience isn't actually that harshly affected at all. But yep plenty of people are scared and I'm sure my parents are too. I really don't want to tell them that I have phlegm in my throat that is sore and then have them freak out. I don't have serious nausea or anything but just an annoying bug in my throat from house chores.

Except it'll be tricky to tell my dad I can't see him on his 77th birthday this end of week. :( I'm much more scared I would accidentally infect him since I'm not that 100 percent solid I'm not infected. And people his age are most vulnerable.

Man who stand on hill with mouth open will wait long time for roast duck to drop in.

Dogface9 better safe than sorry I guess.
Any you guys from France, Germany etc feeling a bit anxious about the death rate? I'm asking because a few Australians have returned from the lockdown countries streaming or recording themselves warning us that we should be more paranoid, honestly just doing more harm by causing more panic.

In Germany reactions differ wildly. There are still Corona Parties (with Corona Beer, of course). Some people in large cities only go outside for weekly shopping trips or even get everything delivered (then disinfecting what they got).
Our health care system is comparatively strong. However, we do need to build makeshift hospitals and produce more ventilators and protective equipment. All this is just being ramped up as we speak and no one can tell whether it will be enough to spare us from what is happening in parts of Italy ...
Everyone I've spoken to is not meeting their parents/grandparents in person anymore. Most work from home as much as they can. Of course, home-office is not an option for health care workers, people who work in supermarkets etc. And yeah, many people have lost their jobs.

Where I am things in hospital are still relatively calm, but what if we get infected today and are unlucky to need a hospital bed three weeks from now?

Dogface, I hope your dad understands that not seeing him for his birthday improves your chances to see each other for his 78th birthday :-)
