French is my first language and I've been studying it throughout school (so from elementary to university). I've even done some kind of certificate about French Applicated Grammar (or something along this line - I'm translating the title, who is kinda complicated so...)

I would be willing to have one or two Skype friends, to exchange in French or help learn French. As you see, I can speak English okay, even though I got somewhat of an accent. If you're Korean, Japanese or you speak Chinese (preferably Mandarin), we could maybe try learning from each other since I'm interested to learn those languages (and I've started to with both Korean and Japanese, though I'm a bit more advanced in Korean).

Someone recently asked me some tips about French language, so let's revive this thread, shall we !
So, the question I was asked is...
il reussit à EN sortir.
il reussit à L'ouvrir?
When do we use EN and when do we use LE, LA, LES to denote it?

EN is used to repeat a Location (either a real or abstract place) or Objects that are introduced by preposition DE (or DU) .
examples with a Location:
Il a réussi à sortir DE la grotte. => Il a réussi à EN sortir.
Il a réussi à sortir DE l'enfer de la drogue. => Il a réussi à (s' ) EN sortir.

examples with an Object:
- Je me fiche DE son avis => Je m'EN fiche.
- Elle veut toujours plus DE pommes. => Elle EN veux toujours plus.
- Mange t-il DU fromage ? Oui, il EN mange. (DU = de + le)

Let's say that EN "contains" DE + something. DE is understated in EN
Other example: someone says RANDOMLY about a person he believes to be gay:
"Il EN est !" (meaning: He's one of them)
Yet, the one he's talking to doesn't understand, & replies by asking:
"DE quoi ?"

As for Le / La / Les, they refer to defined Objects that are NOT introduced by preposition DE (or any preposition).
- Il mange la pomme => Il LA mange.
- Elle déteste le mari de son amie. => Elle LE déteste.
- Veux-tu mon gâteau ? - Oui, je LE veux.

Also, beside EN, there is also pronoum Y, which refers to Objects or Location indicators introduced by preposition À (or AU) :
- Je ne suis pas À Paris actuellement. => Je n' Y suis pas actuellement.
- Elle s'intéresse À la musique. => Elle s'Y intéresse.
- Il pense AUX amis disparus. => Il Y pense. (AU = à + le / la)

Read more about EN & Y, here are 2 websites (written in French ) that details the use:
