London wrote: One of the reasons why women dont like many Asian guys is because height is an extremely important factor in choosing a guy. Asian guys are generally considerably shorter and skinnier than all the other races. Non-asian women are the tallest women on this planet. There's a physical mismatch. Why is it important?

Well, they like tall guys because 1) guys are expected to be masculine, muscular and taller than women by convention. 2) Women want to wear high heels.

I know its important because I have a defunct profile on a dating site and...in the sections they look for in their match/partner...women always leave the sections on default setting as "ANY." However, they usually always fill in the preference sections on...HEIGHT, AGE , LOCATION, BODY TYPE, ATTRACTIVENESS, RACE, LANGUAGE. These are probably the top 7 most important factors for women for dating.

What are your opinions on height?

Ummm.. Since i'm relatively short (160 cm) I would prefer a guy to be taller (at least 170-5cm). I mean I've seen shorter -than me- Asian guys, but most of the guys are taller so, you could say, I don't have a height problem.

..And as to why height is an issue for most people. Well, girls, or all my friends and I have slight sub fetish so, naturally, we like guys who are stronger (i.e taller, more muscular ..as you stated) than us..

It's a lot more fun that way ;)

Height is important to most people because it's evolution. A tall man shows that he's able to provide and protect. Women are attracted to tall men biologically because, at least in a physical way, women tend to be smaller and weaker and used to need protection. These days women and children don't always need the big, strong man protecting them from predators or other hostile big men (lol), but that's been a very very recent advancement in human society, where before we had thousands and thousands of years to evolve the way we have.

I think that if society continued in this way - meaning, that women didn't need tall/strong men to protect them - that eventually men and women would become the same height. Of course I have no proof for this, it's just a thought. There's also the thought that since taller people are, usually/sometimes/depending on your preference, more attractive then they're the ones who'll be breeding so maybe humans will keep getting taller. Ancient humans were very short because of difficult lives and poor nutrition.

But the thing is, since humans have been living for millions of years in a social pattern where the tall strong men had to protect the small and weak women, it's a very deep-set biological and also mental, hm, what's the word...built-in trait? Habit, pattern, I can't think of the right scientific term. Basically, it won't take just a few generations to "get rid" of the height discrepancy between men and women. And as we've all seen, men being taller than women isn't always the case, and isn't always dependent on race either. I've seen really tall Asian women and really short white guys. They're the exceptions, but at least we know that height isn't so black and white.

I never dated a smaller guy but I don't mind someone being my height (5"3) or just a little taller than me...I am not into very tall guys simply cause I feel even smaller than I actually am :) but the ones that I could kiss without climbing the ladder are perfect heights for me :P

Makes no difference to me, I am an equal opportunities dater :P Which means that I have been out with people taller, shorter and the same height as myself! It isn't something I pay much attention to except when playing volleyball...:P

Height doesn't matter to me. I am 5'9" and the first guy I dated was 5'5".
I never really thought about the height difference until someone mentioned it to me.
I think that height shouldn't be a deciding factor when it comes to dating. The important thing is that you enjoy one anothers company and want to have a relationship.

There is this guy that lives somewhere in the neighbourhood where I live, and he is like maybe 2 cm shorter than me. But he is hella fine, so normally because I'm quite short (160 cm) it's rare that I see a guy thats shorter than me. But that guy, even thou he's short, the first thing I noticed about him was how hot he was XD

2cm isn't much lol. Thats nothing. 10cm or more... thats when its more obvious/stands out. But height isn't as much of an issue for me with Asians as it is with other guys.
