any classical music lovers here?

welcome Hack. Yes, same for me (although i am not a rocker). I started listening to classical music since 14 but seldom find any friend to share with. whenever ppl hear anyone like classical music, the first word comes to their mind is 'old fashion'.

simply becos young ppl like pop music. they think that only old ppl will prefer classical ?

it is hard to put definition in words. may be classical music refers to music that are played by orchestral instruments only? for vocals, they have a specific skill of singing for classical.

Since you're talking about what I said, I feel I should step in. I'm a real rocker, not that mainstream poprock. I mean hard drums, fingerburning guitars and heart pumping bass.
I dress like a rocker and almost all my friends listen to rock, metal, punk and so on. So of course they wrink they're noses and look at me like I just kicked a cat. In society, music is like religion, by looking at someone you know what kind of music they like. People usually don't like when someone break the mold that's been put on them.

Oh, ok I understand now, I was asking because I have many friends who listen rock and metal but they also likes classical music and we are fine with that, nobody says anything or complain about it ...mmm, but yes I understand anyways ...

maurice ravel is definitely my favourite.



though it's then arguable whether his works even belong within the realm of classical music since they come prior to modernism (relative to my perception of this period coming well after stravinsky's rite of spring) and, again relative to my classification, after romanticism.
