LET'S TALK ABOUT METAL

I remember when I was in high school, I was turning and trying out various radio stations as a clueless immigrant kid. Then, I ran into this one station that played this song that started with very haunting sounds of bells with equally haunting guitar intro, which was eventually took over by this awesome guitar riffs and rhythms, along with this unique voice.

That was AC/DC's "Hells Bells."

Today mark 35 years of anniversary for AC/DC's release of their legendary album Back In Black. This was also the first album with their new vocalist Brian Johnson who replaced the band's legendary vocalist Bon Scott, to whom this album was dedicated to.

So, here it is ... AC/DC!

I always wanted to know what it feels to be bald and headbang but I guess I don't have the guts to shave my head at the end of the day

But I will bet you will look much better(and sexier) when you headbang with that hair than without any hair.

I'm not sure if the band could be grouped into metal category. At first, I was shocked by their bizarre feature, but then I need to say that I'm addicted to them especially the craziest guy among them Minami (the growling man in the video) <3

BTW, They are coming Taiwan on August!!!

The end is complete for former Obituary bassist Frank Watkins after his long battle against cancer. Major medias that deal with news related to metal music have shared and expressed the sad news of his passing. Rest In Peace.

Borknagar consistently puts out great albums. What I love about these guys is their lyrics are almost always related to cosmology. Their use of clean vocals is a welcome change from my usual listening.




Avante Garde... not sure what else to say. Same vocalist as above. Simen Hestnæs (ICS Vortex).




Galder is actually really talented. You would never know this listening to his work in Dimmu though.




This album had the most profound impact on me. It's what introduced me to doom metal in the 90s.




Speaking of doom metal. This is my favorite song off my favorite doom album. Katatonia's Rainroom off Brave Murder Day. Interesting to note that the lead singer lost his ability to scream shortly before recording this album. Those that are fans of Opeth will recognize the lead singer on this record is actually Mikael Akerfeldt. Coincidentally both artists also collaborated on a couple Bloodbath albums.




Speaking of Bloodbath...




If you ask me, the best Emperor album was Prometheus. They managed to update their sound without completely excluding their existing fanbase. What I love about this song in particular is it starts out so chaotic most people can't stand it. Then they get to 1:09 in the song and suddenly everyone's bobbing their heads.




And these guys know how to do death metal. The guitar work is brilliant. Canadians can be angry too.

This is one of the most criminally underrated metal band. The fact that these guys never got the kind of credit they deserve proves that this world is not perfect.
