While December 25 is internationally recognized as Christmas, to me, it is also(and more importantly) remembered as the day Iron Maiden was formed. Exactly 40 years ago from today, this band who became the forerunner of the "New Wave of British Heavy Metal," or as I personally referred to them as, one of "Twin Towers of Heavy Metal"(and the other "Twin Towers" is Judas Priest), was formed. And here is my tribute to the band with their theme song from their debut album.

I think I still have hearing damage from the Boris gig I went to last year! I hope they come back to Australia soon...

Richie Faulkner couldn't have been a better replacement since K.K. Downing left Judas Priest. Their new album is so refreshing compared to Nostradamus, altough that one is really good!

Today would've been 50th birthday of Tomas "Ace" Börje Forsberg, or better known in the metal community as "Quorthon" - the founder and the song-writer of Bathory, the band who was responsible for pioneering what has been later(around 10 years later) called "black metal" and "Viking metal" music.

Despite initial start with satanic concept, Quorthon shifted his creativity to the subject of Nordic mythology as he realized(and he was the first one to realize this) that one can't truly be liberated from Christianity by adopting Satanism(which still is Christian invention). And like later Scandinavian black metal musicians who adopted Viking themes, Quorthon adopted pre-Christian root as a new form of anti-Christian theme. And here is my tribute to Quorthon and mighty Bathory. Grattis på födelsedagen Quorthon!

Used to listen to Metal all the time and can't stop talk about it. I still remember the first metal band that I got introduced was In Flames, then I found Amon Amarth, Children Of Bodom, among dozens of other melodic death metal bands. Then I found there are so many sub genres of Metal, and they just awesome, from bands like Pentagram, Silencer, to bands like Slipnot, Psychostick, and bands in between. Even some NS/RABM bands are pretty good(as musically skills).
However to be honest here, I've never fell in love with some of "traditional/classic" metal bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Kiss. They are great bands, but I just can't listen to it long enough like I listen to other bands. I've been really thinking about the reason for that, maybe just because I like bands like In Flames first. Anyway, keep calm and stay \m/

30 years ago from today, Metallica released their third and the most iconic Metalica's album Master of Puppets. And this was the last album with their late bassist Cliff Burton.
