I believe there are a few other bookworms on the site too.
So I thought I'd start a thread where you can share your favourite books and authors or let us know about the last book you read.
OK I'll start...
One of my favourite writers is Haruki Murakami.
I fell in love with his writing after reading his novel Norwegian Wood and I have been working my way through everything he's ever written. I even follow him on twitter!
I'd recommend all of his books. But if you want to give him a go I'd start with Norwegian Wood a wonderful story of love, sex and loss.

Norwegian Wood has also recently been made into a film...
I hope others contribute to the thread. I'm always on the look-out for something new to read.

My all time favorite book was "The neverending story" by German author Michael Ende.
Great philosophical/psychological ideas.
And I also like science fiction social criticism like George Orwell's 1984 or "Brave new world" by Aldous Huxley.
Or Star Trek! (No wait that's no book >< )

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
I really loved those books, they were thought provoking.
I actually am a secret cozy mystery lover.. haha..
I have read many, many classics but my favorite one is Jane Eyre and Gone with the Wind..
I am a huge reader. I have read a lot of vampire novels and no vampires should NEVER EVER sparkle it is not right. That is a defective vampire.
I read almost anything to be honest. I am thrilled by this thread.

I recently read Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy...

I had been put off reading these books as they were often displayed near the Twilight series and I thought they might be the same kind of drivel.
It was only after a friend told me they were a good read that I gave them a go.
I thoroughly enjoyed them. Real page turners. I read them all rather quickly as I needed to know what happened next!
The books are not for the faint hearted though. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was originally titled "Men Who Hate Women" and the books do contain sexual violence against women. But it is certainly not in a titillating way.
Two of the books are now films.
I watched The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and it is a good adaptation...

...is this the same "The Neverending Story" made into a children's movie!? Cause that's one of my favourite childhood movies of all time! The sequels don't count, just this one -
But back to the topic at hand, right now I'm working through a collection of Joseph Conrad shorts. He's most famous for "Heart of Darkness," but his other short stories are quite interesting too...lots of maritime settings.

Dunno how good the movie is in comparison to the book, I doubt they were able to include all the philosophy ...
I've heard the sequel is one of the worst crap movies ever made
